Couples and Family Therapy

We all go through different stresses, experiences and stages in life. These can effect how we think, feel and behave and can sometimes lead to misunderstandings and conflict. This can affect the emotional bonds and relationships we have with others.

Couples or family work offers a safe therapeutic space where each person’s experience can be heard and valued. Therapy can help you to explore your relationships and develop new insights into the unhelpful patterns that get created within the couple or the family system.

You will learn how to develop more healthy styles of communication, manage conflict better, and understand how to bring a more compassionate approach to yourself, your partner, or your family. Therapy can also highlight the resources you may already have but may not realise due to the stress of your given situation.

HereToConnect works with a wide range of clients from diverse backgrounds. We value, respect and will explicitly work with your ethnicity, gender, sexuality, culture, religion, and socio-economic status.

We aim to support clients with their similarities and differences with sensitivity and genuine curiosity.

We understand the importance of finding a therapist that feels like a good ‘fit’ for both you and your partner or family members, so our first session would focus on thinking together whether this is the right space for you and how we would work together on the issues that you want to address.

Our aim is to provide therapeutic support for issues including:

How We Work

Initial Contact

After initial contact by phone or email we will arrange to meet you for an assessment. Your initial session will allow us to meet and get to know each other and begin to explore the concerns you want to bring to therapy. This will help you decide if we feel like the right people for you and we will also assess if we are the right people to meet your needs.

First Session

We will agree when and how often we will meet, we normally offer 1 or 2 weekly sessions of 50 minutes each. Together we will review on a regular basis how the therapy is progressing to check that your needs are being met.

Our Experience

We have experience working within the NHS, public and voluntary sectors, as well as running busy private practices. We work within a diverse cultural community with a range of different people from many walks of life, backgrounds and circumstances.

Getting to Know Us

We trust that as you explore our website you will begin to get a feel for who we are, what we do and how we work. If you decide you would like to know more or make an initial appointment, please contact either Terry or Duane by email, text or phone. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have and if we are unable to offer you what you are looking for, we will be happy to point you in the right direction.

Safety & Confidentiality

You need a safe and confidential space in order to build a trusting relationship with us, allowing you to openly talk about the things that concern you.
